The Rotary idea arrived in Sombor in the early 1930s. However, due to the resistance of the local political elite, it was only in 1937 that the founding assembly of seventeen town notables took place. Dr Milenko Petrovic, director of State Hospital, was elected the first chairman.

Rotary Club Sombor formally started on 19.04.1937. and is Chartered with RI on 23.06.1937. After the outbreak of World War II, the Club stopped all activities until 04.08.1998. and initiative to activate RC Sombor. RI renewed the active status of RC Sombor on 27.08.1999.

RC Sombor members have done immense work on numerous actions for the local and regional community.
